Wembezi sangoma is feeding people ‘poison’ says 71-year-old

"A sangoma can't feed a person poison. This is just like the priest who sprayed Doom on the congregants, only worse"

After a recent visit to a sangoma (traditional healer), a 71-year-old Estcourt resident would like to caution others about being fed ‘poison’.

The resident says he recently consulted with the traditional healer who is based in Wembezi.

After the consultation, the resident was given a concoction to drink. This, he says, contains methylated spirits, vinegar and a liquid similar to Jeyes Fluid.

He was instructed to drink half a cup twice a day, in the morning and evening. Adhering to these directions, the man, who did not want to be named for fear of victimisation, says he took the prescribed dose of the foul-tasting drink once; but this was when he felt unwell.

“I had pain in my wrists that feels like arthritis. I also felt like my heart was expanding when I walk,” he explained.

He immediately discontinued the ‘medication’, which he says is used to clean out your stomach.

“I want to warn other people about this,” he said. “A sangoma can’t feed a person poison. This is just like the priest who sprayed Doom on the congregants, only worse,” he stated.
