Police arrest suspected hitmen, saving Vryheid taxi owner’s life

The gunmen were believed to be targeting a taxi owner who resides in the Nhlazatshe area.

Working with great swiftness, the Glückstadt police were able to arrest two gunmen who were suspected to be after a taxi boss in the area.

Police received a tip off about two suspicious men that were driving around the Nhlazatshe area in a Nissan Almera with a GP registration. The men were believed to be targeting a taxi owner who resides in the area.

When the police arrived on scene, they caught the two men with unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.

The two were then taken to Glückstadt where cases of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition were opened.

The two appeared in Vryheid Magistrates Court on May 2.
