Culpable homicide suspects sentenced to seven years imprisonment

The Dundee Regional Court sentenced the suspects to seven years each, of which four years are suspended for the next five years, providing the accused do not commit similar crimes.

Three men have been found guilty and sentenced to seven years in prison, following the brutal attack and death of 34-year-old Nhlanhla Hadebe in 2017.

According to Dannhauser SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Sergeant M. Nyembe, the deceased was visiting his girlfriend, when he was attacked by her brother and two other accomplices.

“They struck the deceased on the head. He was rushed to Madadeni Provincial Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries the following day.”

A case of murder was opened against the three suspects, but the court later dropped the charges to these of culpable homicide.

All three men were also declared unfit to ever possess a firearm.
