Mohammed Abdurahaman Khan needs your help to be mobile and enjoy his life again. The 19-year-old has a debilitating disease, which has seen him spend his life in a wheelchair.

Years ago Mohammed received a wheelchair from the Lion’s Club of Estcourt but has since outgrown it and cannot utilise this wheelchair anymore.

He has been spending his days immobile and his mother Fiona Drew says that his spine is beginning to curve.

“He is extremely uncomfortable and needs a specialised wheelchair,” said Ms Drew.

The family is pleading with locals to assist but they are not asking for cash. Locals are required to collect bread tags and plastic bottle tops, which the family will present to Breadtags for Wheelchairs, which is an organisation started by a nurse that collects recyclable plastics in return for wheelchairs.

Ms Drew says that in order for Mohammed to receive a new specialised wheelchair, he requires 320kgs of plastic bottle tops and 200kgs of bread tags.

Can you assist? If so, donations can be dropped off at the Estcourt News at 99 Connor Street or you can contact Ms Drew on 078 001 7485.
