A suspected thief was knocked down on Wednesday afternoon (May 16) in Lyell Street.
It is alleged that the man stole an item from a shop in the area and was fleeing on foot.
While security guards from the area were giving chase, the man was hit by a motorist travelling along the road.
Police and emergency services responded to the scene.

The man sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being taken to hospital.
Police went to the hospital to follow up on the incident that occurred.
