Alleged thief hit by car while fleeing from security guards

The man sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being taken to hospital

A suspected thief was knocked down on Wednesday afternoon (May 16) in Lyell Street.

It is alleged that the man stole an item from a shop in the area and was fleeing on foot.

While security guards from the area were giving chase, the man was hit by a motorist travelling along the road.

Police and emergency services responded to the scene.
