April 30:
– The forum requested police backup after they had detained a suspect wanted for stealing from a store on Scott Street. It was later confirmed the suspect was wanted for card cloning. The suspect and his accomplice were both arrested for being in possession of various cloned cards.
– A vehicle BOLO (Be On The Lookout) was circulated after another incident of card cloning took place.
– Members of the CPF attended to a complaint after Shekinah Christian Academy was burgled over the weekend. Computers and other valuables were taken during the robbery.
May 2:
– A G4S and local security guard were held up at gunpoint between Newcastle and Utrecht. The suspects fled the scene with cash, wallets, car keys and safe keys. A vehicle BOLO was circulated and a search conducted to locate the suspects. No arrests have been made as yet.
– A vehicle collision was reported to have happened on the Majuba Pass near Ingogo. No injuries were reported.
– A suspect was detained after he was caught shoplifting at a store in the vicinity of Newcastle CBD.
– A vehicle collision involving two cars was reported to have happened on Victoria Street. All officials were called to the scene, and no serious injuries were reported.

May 3:
– Members requested assistance from the Newcastle Fire Department after a tree caught fire in Hutten Heights.
– A BOLO was circulated after a vehicle carrying four suspicious suspects was spotted in the CBD.
– Five people sustained minor injuries after the vehicle in which they were travelling had overturned on Botha’s Pass on the R34 Memel Road. All officials attended the scene, and the patients were treated for minor injuries, which included shock, bruising and lacerations.
May 5:
– A motor vehicle collision was reported to have happened on the Madadeni Road, near Theku Plaza. All officials responded to the accident scene.
– The CPF requested emergency services at the corner of Drakensberg and Hans van Rensberg Avenues, after a patient suffered a possible heart attack.
A note from Newcastle 911 Management:
“Members of the public are requested to please make sure of a situation before calling it in to the 911 Control Room. We do receive calls requesting our help at specific addresses, but when members get there, all is quiet.”
The CPF also urged members of the public to be cautious of suspicious people and vehicles in their area.
“When calling it in to the Control Room, please try and give a detailed description of the make and model of a vehicle and registration number if possible. Also, with people, please try and give a detailed description of the clothing being worn.”
All 911 members who respond to complaints use their own transport and at their own cost.
