IFP Councillor and Dundee Mayor in court for bail application (video included)

State Prosecutor Ms Zungu, who is opposing bail, is in the process of reading out the Investigating Officer’s affidavit, which is leading the bail application

Inkatha Freedom Party Councillor (IFP) Mthembeni Excellent Majola, Endumeni (Dundee) Local Municipality Mayor Richard Mbatha and alleged hit man Xolani Makhathini are appearing in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court today for a formal bail application.

All three men have been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder after they were arrested last week for conspiring to kill Endumeni council Speaker Bongiwe Mbatha.

The men appeared before Magistrate Sam Mpungose.

State Prosecutor Ms Zungu, who is opposing bail, is in the process of reading out the Investigating Officer’s affidavit, which is leading the bail application.

Outside the court, IFP supporters have been calling for their ‘leaders’ to be freed. Supporters started protesting this morning and are still in full voice outside the court.
