Police make swift arrest after foreign national is stabbed to death at tavern in Ladysmith

The suspect is due to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate's Court later this week

One arrest has been made after a foreign national, aged 32, was stabbed to death at a tavern in the Leonardsville area in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 2).

Police received a report of the stabbing and rushed to the scene, but the suspect had already fled.

While the crime scene was being combed for clues, further investigations were being carried out in the area.

This led K9 and Visible Policing officers to the residence of a 24-year-old suspect, who was subsequently arrested.

At this stage, the motive for the killing is unknown and investigations are continuing.

The suspect is due to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court later this week, facing a murder charge.

The deceased has not yet been identified.
