
To report a fake incident to the South African Police Service (SAPS) is a very serious offence.
The SAPS will open a criminal case known as perjury against that person and he/she will be charged. If found guilty in a court of law, he/she will be sentenced.

The person can be sent to jail or receive a suspended sentence.
A criminal record will remain under his/her name for their whole life.
