Update: Man sentenced for shooting his wife and child near Ladysmith

The charges related to a double murder that took place in January

60-year-old Mr Masheke Abram Ndlovu will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being found guilty of murder.

He appeared in front of the Estcourt magistrate on May 24, facing two charges of murder and one charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The charges related to a double murder that took place in January this year, where his wife and son were shot dead.

On Wednesday, January 3, Weenen police were alerted to a shooting in the Ezintendeni area. On arrival at the scene, the officers discovered the bodies of a 45-year-old mother and her 15-year-old son.

It is alleged that both were shot after an argument between the woman and her husband.

Ndlovu was found guilty on all three counts. He was sentenced to 35 years in jail, receiving 15 years for each murder and five years for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
