Watch: Shop owner assaulted during robbery in Peacetown

Police are currently investigating

A shop owner was assaulted this morning (June 19) in the Kirkintullock area of Peacetown during a robbery.

It is believed that three suspects were waiting for the shop owner to open his business, which is in a cargo container. As soon as the doors opened, they entered the shop.

It is unknown at this stage whether the men were armed or not, but they had three bags with them. They proceeded to assault the shop owner by kicking him.

The suspects made their getaway on foot after stealing airtime, cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police, including the Ladysmith K9 Unit and TRT officers, responded to the scene.

Police are currently investigating the incident.
