Firearms recovered, 3 suspects arrested

All 3 suspects were charged for being in possession of firearms and ammunition without a licence

Police officers from the Uthukela Cluster recovered three firearms during the course of last weekend.

Last Friday morning, officers from Ezakheni SAPS were called out to a complaint of a shooting.

On further investigation at the scene, they discovered that the person who had used his firearm was not in possession of a valid firearm licence.

The 50-year-man was arrested. He had a 9mm pistol in his possession.

On the same day, officers from the Ntabamhlope policing area were conducting stop and search operations in Dutch location.

They searched a 39-year-old man and discovered that he was in possession of a 9mm pistol, as well as ammunition.

On Sunday (June 17), officers from Besters SAPS received a tip-off from members of the community that a man was in possession of a firearm.

Officers rushed to the Gcabhane area in Watersmeet, where they intercepted a 46-year-old man.

He was found in possession of a pistol as well as ammunition.

All three suspects were charged for being in possession of firearms and ammunition without a licence.

They appeared in various courts on Monday (June 18).
