VOICE OF THE PEOPLE: What do Newcastillians think about the National Health Insurance system?

In reaction to this, the Newcastle Advertiser asked a few residents what they thought about the Minister's plan.

The Minister of Health recently suggested South Africans all become part of the National Health Insurance-system (NHI). By implication this would result in people with medical aid paying more to enable poorer South Africans to also receive private medical care, free of charge. In reaction to this, the Newcastle Advertiser asked a few residents what they thought about the Minister’s plan.

Die Minister van Gesondheid het onlangs ‘n voorstel gemaak dat alle Suid-Afrikaners registreer op die NHI-stelsel. Die implikasie hiervan is dat mense met reeds bestaande mediese fondse, die mediese onkostes van mense daarsonder sal dra, sodoende hul die kans te gun om private mediese sorg te verkry.
