12-year-old boy catches Red-Lipped Herald snake in Ladysmith
For Sean, it was another snake he captured all by himself, with his father's supervision

12-year-old Sean Cilliers got his hands on a Red-Lipped Herald snake at a home in Ladysmith last week.
A homeowner in King Street came across the snake while he was spring cleaning and called local snake expert Fanie Cilliers for help.
Speaking to Fanie and his son Sean, they say the snake was in the television room and would most likely have stayed there until spring if the homeowner had not stumbled upon it.
The Cilliers father and son duo added that, as it is winter, snakes enter homes to avoid the cold weather conditions.

The difference between inside and outside a home is about 20 degrees, with homeowners having their heaters on and warming up the place.
For Sean, it was another snake he captured all by himself, with his father’s supervision.
The snake will be kept until the temperature warms up. Then it will be released on a farm in Van Reenen.
