He was found on Monday after the Crime Intelligence Unit received a tip off that he had been hiding in the Donidoni Mayflower area in Mpumulanga province.

A successful operation conducted by the Zululand Cluster Task Team together with Mayflower SAPS members, led to Siyabonga’s arrest and will ensure that he faces justice.

“The team surrounded the Mokoena home where he had been hiding. Some police officers guarded the outside perimeter around the household, while a few got inside and pretended to be looking for someone else. All of the members had seen Siyabonga’s photo so they knew what he looked like,” said communications officer for the Zululand Cluster, Captain Nkosie Gwala.

Capt Gwala said it was a relief to have Siyabonga behind bars and believes that, “A man capable of such brutality should be locked away forever.”

“Who knows what violent act he may carry out next, if he is free, or what action the community of Nongoma will take if they get hold of him,” she concluded.
