Estcourt Golf Club Manager, Philip Boshoff found it odd that the alarm did not sound off this morning at about 7.30 as it usually does.
To add to his suspicions was the heavy smell of ‘angle grinder smoke’ that hung heavily in the passage way.

The smell led Mr Boshoff to the store room where his heart sunk after he realised that the golf club had been burgled the previous evening, affirming his initial suspicious of a break-in.
ITEMS STOLEN :
- Three flat screen televisions
- One computer
- A mini hi-fi
- Cash
- Food
- Alarm system
- Camera system
- And alcohol
The Club President, George van Niekerk was alerted immediately and he contacted the private security’s armed response, an hour thereafter police responded.
“We are a small club and we are already battling financially and now for this big loss. This is definitely someone that is familiar with the set up here,” Mr Boshoff said miserably.
The club committee is offering a reward to anyone who can provide them with positive information which will lead to a recovery of the stolen items and the conviction of the robbers.
