Hitchhiker busted with dagga in Ladysmith

Constable Nkosi discovered that the bag was full of marijuana

A hitchhiker was arrested for possession of dagga on the N11 on Monday afternoon (July 30).

Constable Nkosi, Pillay and Padayachee from Ladysmith SAPS were carrying out crime prevention duties on the N11 (Newcastle road) when they spotted a man hiking with a blue luggage bag.

He looked suspicious, so they stopped with the intention of searching him and his bag.

According to one of the officers, the man was shocked when the police stopped him. When they opened his bag, they found he was carrying drugs.

Constable Nkosi discovered that the bag was full of marijuana. 5.8kg of dagga was recovered.

The 51-year-old suspect from Newcastle was arrested and charged for being in possession of dagga.
