The man accused of murdering Warrant Officer Sascha Naidoo last June, appeared at the Madadeni Regional Court on Thursday (August 2).

According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Captain Jabulani Ncube, the suspect will be expected to establish his mental fitness ahead of trail proceedings.
Naidoo, then with the Newcastle K9 Unit, was stabbed in his left inner thigh while on duty in Madadeni in June 2017.
He was rushed to hospital and was admitted to the ICU, where he underwent treatment and surgery.
However, after being admitted for two days, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on June 29, leaving his family and the community reeling in shock.

The town’s beloved ‘angel in blue’ was finally laid to rest on July 8 at the Grace Community Church, where hundreds of family, friends, colleagues and community members gathered to pay their final tributes to hero they so very much adored.
