The Shisa-Nyama building at the Barry Hertzog Park centre burned to ashes on Sunday evening (August 5).
Some residents who witnessed fire fighters at the scene, expressed guilty pleasure at the incident, and welcomed the sight of bulldozers toppling the charred remains of the building on Monday morning.

This is due to the controversy the Shisa-Nyama has caused in recent months.
Numerous problems associated with the building have caused residents to express outrage multiple times at its presence in the suburb, and this is but the latest development in the saga.
The Newcastle Advertiser attempted to speak with the Shisa-Nyama owner.
While he could not be reached, his business consultant, Njabulo Mabaso said they were not yet certain what had caused the fire, and added he would release an official statement at a later stage.
The case is now subject to official investigations.
