Two 21-year-old men have been arrested and detained for business robbery, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The duo was arrested after they robbed the Emmanuel Tuckshop in eMafusini, Dannhauser, in the early hours of August 2.
The men, along with a third accomplice, went to the tuckshop and demanded cash from the shopkeeper at gunpoint.
They then fled on foot escaping with approximately R15 000 in cash.
Local off-duty police officers were alerted to the incident and responded to the scene.
They then gave chase and a shootout ensued between one of the men and police.
He was shot just above the hip and arrested before being taken to hospital where he is under police guard.
Police also recovered a 9mm pistol and eight rounds from the man.
The other two men hid in a wooded area, however, police received information which led to the arrest of the second man.
The third is still at large and the case is still under investigation.
