Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) duo Mthembeni Majola and Richard Mbatha will be back in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

This is when the case against them and alleged hit man Xolani Makhathini resumes. During the trio’s previous court appearance on July 4, Magistrate Sam Mpungose granted the state six weeks to finalise evidence relating to cellphone records and cellphone mapping.
“I think it is in the best interests of justice to be granted so it can expedite the investigations,” he said during his judgement.

The three men have each been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder. It is alleged that the men plotted to assassinate Endumeni (Dundee) Local Municipality Speaker Bongiwe Mbatha and a male who had received a security tender.
The three accused bail is extended with the same conditions. August 13 is the final postponement date for further investigation.
