An operation conducted by Uthukela Cluster Task Team produced positive results when they recovered two firearms and arrested two suspects, on Monday.
The members received information about the suspects in possession of firearms at Emablesini, in the Upper Tugela area.
Upon arrival to the area they found a pistol which had its serial number filed off, a revolver with one round in its chamber and 12 rounds of ammunition in its magazine.

Both suspects aged 35 and 50 were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The recovered firearms will be subject to ballistic testing to ascertain if they have been involved in any crimes in the republic. The suspects appeared in the Bergville Magistrates’ Court on Monday and were remanded in custody until the next day.
