Possible robbery in Bergville is foiled

Information came to light at about 5pm that a suspicious vehicle with four male occupants was parked in the main street in front of a bank

Swift action from information received has led police to believe that a possible business robbery was foiled in Bergville.

Officers were on high alert on the afternoon of August 13 when they received a tip-off that a business premises had been a target for a robbery.

Information came to light at about 5pm that a suspicious vehicle with four male occupants was parked in the main street in front of a bank.

“The vehicle, a white Hyundai, and its occupants were observed, a while later it took off. Officers followed them and as they left the town area officers stopped the car,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

Police investigations soon revealed that the car had been stolen in Gauteng and that the registration plates were false.

“All four suspects have been arrested and will be charged for being in possession of suspected stolen property. They will be profiled by police before facing a magistrate,” added W/O Khan.
