Update: R103 open for traffic, 16 protesters arrested by police

Police have opened a case of public violence and are currently monitoring the situation

The R103 has been cleared and is now open for traffic after it was closed earlier today (August 30) by protesters demanding better service delivery in Colenso.

A large crowd of protesters blocked the entire R103, saying that ward councillor Thuli Hadebe must be removed from the area, as they believe she has failed them.

Police responded to the scene, arresting 16 protesters and re-opening the roadway.
