An intelligence-driven operation held in the Sun Valley area of Weenen on Friday morning (August 31) resulted in one arrest and the recovery of firearms and ammunition.
The operation was led by the Ladysmith Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit and Ladysmith K9 Unit.
A 22-year-old suspect was arrested, and police recovered a rifle and six rounds of ammunition.
The team also recovered a 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition. The pistol had been abandoned and its serial number had been filed off.

The suspect made an appearance in the Weenen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing a charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing.
