
Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) Units in KwaZulu-Natal concluded Women’s Month in excellent form by securing a number of convictions for crimes against women and children during August.
Teams of dedicated investigators from FCS Units around the province were in a position to secure 44 convictions, while other cases remain under investigation or are still in court.

Among those convicted, 12 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment for rape cases, while others were sentenced to a total of 394 years in prison.
402 suspects were also arrested during the same month for various crimes such as rape, sexual assault, assault GBH, attempted murder, common assault, concealment of birth, kidnapping, as well as other sexual offences.
These seasoned investigators will continue to persevere in bringing those who abuse women and children to book. Citizens can be assured that all cases in their hands will be thoroughly investigated to ensure that those implicated end up in prison.
