Update: Police still investigating farm attack and robbery in Elandslaagte

The farm workers were confronted by 5 men wearing balaclavas

The case regarding the farm attack and robbery that took place in Elandslaagte on Saturday night, May 5, is still under investigation by police.

The farm attack saw two farm workers being tied up and robbed of their belongings by five robbers.

The couple who were tied up stay on the farm as workers. They heard dogs on the farm barking and went to investigate. The farmer was away at the time.

They were confronted by five men wearing balaclavas. The men grabbed them and tied them up.

The suspects ransacked the farmhouse, using an angle grinder to cut a safe from the wall. Rifles, shotguns and revolvers were stolen, as well as a small amount of cash.

The husband who was tied up managed to escape hours later and went for help. When he approached Elandslaagte police station, he was greeted with locked gates.

He then went to a nearby business premises and asked a community member for help. Police were then informed and rushed out to the scene of the farm attack. By then, the suspects had already fled.

According to police, no arrests have been made.
