
Constable LM Nsele was recently nominated as the Best FCS Detective by Acting Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi. He was invited to and attended the National Crime Detection Conference which was held in Pretoria last week.
Cst Nsele has just under 10 years of service in the SAPS. He has spent all that time serving at the Ladysmith Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences Unit. Under the command of Captain Ramdhin, he gained valuable experience and was identified to work on cases with a ‘DNA link’. The young detective is an energetic and dedicated individual who is focused on his work.
At the conference, he was awarded with a Certificate of Special Awards in Crime Detection.
Here are a few of the convictions and sentences he has secured…
Four terms of life imprisonment for rape, 50 years for robbery with aggravated circumstances, two years for kidnapping and 15 years for compelled rape. These convictions and sentences were secured in The State versus Siphesihle Ernest “Razo” in four different crimes that took place in the Ezakheni area between 2013 and 2018. The accused was sentenced in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.

Seven terms of life imprisonment for rape and 75 years for robbery with aggravated circumstances in The State versus Thelumusa Kubheka. This was for five different crimes that took place in the Ladysmith area between 2012 and 2015. The accused was sentenced in the Madadeni High Court.
10 life terms and a total of 202 years’ imprisonment for rape with aggravated circumstances in The State versus Thokozani Joseph Kubheka. 10 crimes occurred in the Ladysmith and Ematsheni areas between 2009 and 2017. The accused was also sentenced in the Madadeni High Court.
45 years’ imprisonment in The State versus Gabuza. The crimes occurred in the Ezakheni area between 2015 and 2018. The accused was sentenced in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.
20 life terms in The State versus Siyabonga Alfred Mzinyane. The crime occurred in the Besters area in 2009. The accused was sentenced in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.
Uthukela Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Bantham and Ladysmith FCS Unit Commander Captain Ramdhin are elated at his achievement.
