Update: No new arrests in stolen and hijacked vehicles case

The recovered vehicles include the suspects’ getaway Toyota RunX, an Isuzu bakkie and a VW Golf

No additional arrests have been made by police regarding the stolen and hijacked vehicles that were recovered in Ladysmith on Monday, August 13.

In the early hours of that morning, Ladysmith police acted on information about a stolen vehicle that was being traced by the tracking company in Ezakheni.

Officers from Ladysmith Visible Policing and the K9 Unit rushed out to the Mansibilayo area, and were later joined by officers from the Zululand SAPS Cluster Task Team and Vryheid K9 Unit.

These officers were hot on the heels of suspects who had committed a robbery in the Mondlo area, Vryheid, the previous day.

Both suspects appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court, where they were remanded into custody pending further police investigation. They will also be linked to other cases.

Officers from the Ladysmith Detective Tracing Team and K9 Unit arrested another suspect on Wednesday, August 22, in connection with stolen and hijacked vehicles. The third suspect faces a charge of house robbery. Detectives are confident that he will be linked to other cases.

No further arrests have been made.
