Update: Case changed to murder after decomposed body is found in river

The dead woman was found face down without any pants in knee-deep water

A gruesome sight greeted Steadville residents on August 8 when a decomposed woman’s body was spotted floating in the Klip River. After preliminary investigations, the case has now been changed from inquest to murder.

When the body was found, residents quickly contacted police, who responded to the scene.

According to police, the dead woman was found face down without any pants in knee-deep water.

The age of the deceased is believed to be around 35.

A male was taken in for questioning regarding the incident, but has since been released.

Police are still investigating.
