“I thank God I’m still alive today to share my horrific ordeal,” says a traumatised woman who was robbed and assaulted at her home.
The 48-year-old female, who would like to remain anonymous, was brutally attacked and robbed at her house in the Acaciavale area on Tuesday, October 23.
She recalls that she was at home with her domestic worker and gardener on the day in question.
The domestic worker was busy in the kitchen and she went to lie down on the bed in her room.

She heard the maid opening the kitchen patio door to call for the gardener to hand him his food.
The gardener told the maid he would come back shortly for the food; he left and within minutes, three men forcefully entered the home. One of the robbers grabbed the maid by the throat and demanded money, ordering her not to scream or make a sound.
The woman says she heard talking, but thought the domestic worker was speaking to the gardener, so she did not worry about it.
One of the robbers then Sellotaped the domestic worker’s mouth shut.
A second robber barged into the lady’s room and jumped on the bed, grabbing her throat.
She later noticed that one of the men had a firearm.
In the meantime, the robber who was threatening the domestic worker grabbed her and took her to the garage, all the while demanding cash and jewellery. He even threatened to kill her.
The other two men ransacked the house, looking for valuables.
The domestic worker managed to fight off the robber and opened up the Sellotape over her mouth. She fled to the neighbours, screaming for help.
That’s when the robbers fled. The suspects got away with cash, jewellery and cell-phones.
“I was on the floor after being assaulted and I saw the men fleeing from my house. I also saw the garden boy leaving with them,” says the woman.
Later that day, the woman’s son opened the shed and saw the gardener hiding inside. He contacted the police.
A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Detectives are investigating a case of house robbery.
