A scam involving love and ‘magic’ is currently conning women in the province out of their hard-earned cash.
Criminals are targeting older, widowed or divorced women by pretending to be attracted to them and offering to have a relationship with them.
They then influence the scam victims to resign from their employment for better investment opportunities, or convince them to consult a traditional doctor who can supposedly multiply cash using black magic.
Many women have fallen victim to this modus operandi.

Police say it is not easy to investigate cases where there has been an exchange of cash in a romantic relationship, and are making an appeal to the fairer sex to be alert at all times and not fall victim to opportunistic con-men.
Women are warned to be vigilant at all times and not trust anyone with their life savings.
