Father flees with child after firing the shot that takes his girlfriend’s life

Members of the SAPS found the man believed to have shot and killed his 24-year old ex-girlfriend and fled with their child.

A MAN suspected of having shot and killed his ex-girlfriend at close range with a revolver last month, was finally brought to book.

Members of the SAPS found the man believed to have shot and killed his 24-year old ex-girlfriend and fled with their child to Mahikeng in the North West Province.

The man is said to have visited his ex-girlfriend at her home last month and an argument is said to have ensued. He then allegedly pulled out a revolver and fired two shots that killed the woman instantly and then fled with the child.

The child was found a few days later but the police had to work hard in order to locate their suspect.

SAPS would like to thank the Mahlabathini SAPS members, Vryheid’s tracing team, the Zululand Task team as well as the Vryheid Crime Intelligence Unit for working together in order to make a successful arrest.

The revolver has also been recovered and will be taken in to be checked for fingerprints and whether it is connected to any other cases.
