The community of kwa-Ludimbi (Ward 30) were overjoyed when Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala recently handed over a brand new marquee / tent with 200 chairs for the purpose of community meetings or gatherings.
The mayor was accompanied by Councillor Gwala during an area meeting as part of the Municipal Thuma Mina Programme.
The community, which is in a deeply rural part of the municipal area, previously held meetings and gatherings under a tree. They also had concerns over the holding of funerals, as they had no shelter.

When it rained, they were forced to be out in the open, at the mercy of the elements.
Addressing the community, Mayor Madlala stressed that, as part of the Thuma Mina Campaign, they took a decision to get sponsorship for the tent, which will serve as a temporary structure while waiting for a community hall to be built.
“We urged businesses that we worked with and pleaded that they assist in purchasing this marquee to help the Ludimbi community in securing a temporary structure,” said the mayor.
The mayor urged the people to look after the marquee and also to make sure they use it wisely.
