Five alternatives to a traditional Christmas tree

Fake green pine trees are fine in the grand scheme of things.

If you’re looking for something more creative and somewhat unconventional however, here are some alternatives to the traditional Christmas tree:

Chalkboard tree

Decorating a Christmas tree is one of the most exciting parts of the festive season and a flat or standing chalkboard only serves to harness creativity.

If using a flat chalkboard, draw a tree design.

This can be decorated either with physical baubles, tinsel and lights, or fully embrace it with messages, designs and decorations in different coloured chalk.

Pinecone tree

Embrace the spirit of the great outdoors with this awesome tree.
Despite its impressive look, this tree is simply in the arranging, painting and gluing of pine cones into
a pyramid shape, ending with a single cone on top.
Decorate as you see fit!

Newspaper tree

Begin with the base of the tree, as the main structure.
You can create a base (trunk) from either wood, plastic or metal and attach rolled or folded newspapers to create the branches.
Newspaper folded into cones can also work well.
To decorate your paper tree, either hang ornaments from the branches or create paper designs and stick them on with glue.
Don’t forget fairy lights for that glowing effect!
