The most heart-warming Courier stories of 2018

It has been a long year, filled with tears and laughter but best of all 2018 has been a year to remember.

We have gathered 2018’s most heartwarming stories to show readers and residents have shown themselves to be selfless and helped to spread love to those in need. Although 2018 was a rough year, Endumeni residents were still able to make the best of those dire situations.

Below is a list of the most heartwarming stories of 2018:

Farmer makes a difference in rural school 

Farmer, Geoge Shawe, and Ward 6 Councillor Makaba donated school uniforms to 10 underprivileged school children in Vegkop Primary School. Mr Shawe donated an additional R3 000 towards buying new school uniforms.

Sonishka’s selfless donation

Who can ever forget Sonishka Singh’s donation of her hair during the Shavertown at the Boulevard Centre? She grew her hair so that she can give a part of it to someone who really needs it.

After 41 years a respected Correctional Services Officer has called time on a career that was an example to all

Taalies Talijaard was definitely an icon and a force to be reckoned with at the Glencoe Correctional Services. He served loyally for 41 years and will be missed by many at NGL Correctional Services.

 Grade R’s headed the wright way

Dundee Pre-Primary School learners will never forget their kindergarten days with their names engraved on their special pens, a gift from Charlies Spar.

 ID horror worked in Osborn’s favour 

Sick and handicapped Osborn Gasa was unable to get his ID sorted out but he is at least getting his pension now, after the ID horror story that was published in the Courier.

Future leaders give back at Livangeli School

. Future leaders gave back to underprivileged learners at Livangeli Combined School during the 67 minutes on Mandela day. What makes this story so heartwarming is that these are Grade 11 learners who themselves don’t have much, but they were able to help those in need at the school.

115-year-old man shares a birthday with Mandela

Who can forget about Mr Khuzwayo who not only shares a birthday with Tata Mandela but he also celebrated 115 years in July, could be the oldest man in the country?

Mr Mseleku celebrates 92 years of grace today 

Last but not least our Dundee’s very own nonagenarian Vincent Mseleku who celebrated his 92nd birthday this year.
