UPDATE: IFP’s Zakhele Mazibuko’s murder case postponed

Defence lawyer Mr Mashele agreed on the date saying that his client has a pending case at the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court

Uthukela District Councillor, Mthokozisi Khumalo made his first appearance in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court earlier today facing a charge of murder.

Day one of court proceedings concluded with Magistrate Sam Mpungose  announcing the postponement of the case to January 23, for a possible bail application and the decision from the senior public prosecutor.

The defence lawyer Mr Mashele agreed on the date saying that his client has a pending case at the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on January 15.

Zakhele Joseph Mazibuko Publicity Secretary of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the UThukela District, was shot in September 2018.

He was travelling between Estcourt and Colenso after attending an IFP district meeting.

The accused will remain in custody until the next court appearance next week Tuesday.
