Arrests made in Ladysmith during intelligence-driven operation

A 29-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a pistol

An intelligence-driven operation held in the Uthuklea Cluster on Friday (January 11) resulted in several arrests.

The operation involved the Uthukela Cluster Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit, Newcastle Public Order Policing, as well as officers from the Phoenix Tactical Response Team.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed pistol and ammunition. She was found with a CZ 75 pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition.

A 29-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a pistol, but no ammunition.

A .22 rifle was found abandoned during the operation.

During the same operation, a 28-year-old man was arrested for a house robbery. The incident took place recently in the Steadville area.

The suspects were arrested in the Ladysmith CBD, Steadville and Kwa Mntandi areas. They all made an appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Monday (January 14). Detectives are confident that the suspect arrested for house robbery will be linked to other cases that occurred in the area.
