Couple arrested for dagga possession in Winterton

The recovered dagga weighed 56kgs and has a street value of R210 000

Dagga with an estimated street value of just over R200 000 was confiscated from a couple by police on Saturday evening.

Police officers from the Uthukela Cluster Task Team were conducting a stop and search operation in Winterton when the couple was stopped.

“Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered dagga packed into bins bags in the boot of the vehicle. The recovered dagga weighed 56kgs and has a street value of R210 000,” commented police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

The couple, aged 39 and 42 were charged for possession of dagga and appeared in the Winterton Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
