New wheels bring hope to the physically disadvantaged

After receiving her wheelchair, she now has the chance to leave the confines of her mattress and be mobile.

ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) and Majuba Rotary Club continue with their wheelchair drive to aid people who are physically disadvantaged.

Just before Christmas, this collaboration changed lives in the greater oSizweni area.

Bongi Msezane, a social worker in the area, identified Nosipho Nsele (34) who is a disabled woman who has difficulty speaking and getting from place-to-place. She lives in a small tin shack, with her mother and brother in Muiskraal.

Outside the shack is a mattress, on which Nosipho usually spends her days.

After receiving her wheelchair, she now has the chance to leave the confines of her mattress and be mobile.

The second recipient of a wheelchair was Jonas Mbikombongo (63) from Section C in oSizweni.

Although he was not available to receive the donation, family members were thrilled to receive it on his behalf, saying it will assist them in caring for him.
