Police are hard on the trail of a group of armed men who, in the space of two hours, robbed three people on Friday night.
The gang of around 10 men, who travel in a Quantum vehicle, first struck in Lindelani at around 9pm. A 42-year-old man who was walking home was forced to lie on the road by six men who alighted from a Quantum. The victim was searched and robbed of his cellphone and money. He was also assaulted.
At around 10.15pm, a 40-year-old man, who was standing next to his door at his Biyela Street home, was approached by a group of 10 men carrying firearms.
The leader of the gang pushed the victim down while the other men entered the house. They returned with the man’s girlfriend, known as Cebi. It appears as if Cebi went with the men who left in the Quantum also making off with a cellphone and money.
Police are not clear as to what happened to Cebi. The group’s next victim was a 37-year-old Smith Street man who was at home with friends when they heard banging on the door at around 11pm.
When they opened the door, two men entered and threatened those inside with firearms. A bag of cash and cellphones were taken.
The gang demanded that the lights be switched off. A shot was fired in the air as the men fled from the house.
All three robberies have been linked to the same gang, police said.
The gang has been dubbed the Bullet Gang and a hunt is continuing.
