Winston is a musical whizkid
He listens to Mozart and Beethoven, plays the piano and recorder, composes his own music and is only 14-years-old

Winston Gomba is no ordinary teenager.
He listens to Mozart and Beethoven, plays the piano and recorder, composes his own music and is only 14-years-old.
Winston’s passion for all things musical began at a very early age through school and church. The love grew thanks to the Adonai Music Academy and Winston realised that there were others who shared his taste in music. Last year he began playing the piano and soon mastered it. “It was a very whimsical feeling the first time I played it,” he recalled.
He then started listening to more Beethoven and Mozart, began researching music and started watching movies just to learn more about the scores. “Classical music is used in the background of so many movies and it doesn’t get the respect it deserves. I want to change that.”
While he doesn’t always find common ground with youngsters his age, who listen to modern music, Winston has been trying to teach others about the benefits of listening to the classics.
“I use classical music as part of maths tuitions and people have already seen how well it works.”
But he doesn’t only teach others with music, Winston also taught himself how to play the recorder and next aims to learn the violin. Looking to the future, he hopes to become a vet but can’t imagine his life without music.
“I want to be part of an orchestra or be involved with music for a living.”
Mature way beyond his years, Winston is proof that you can do anything you put your mind to and that you should always follow your dreams, no matter what others say.
