Drakies perform for Japanese New Year’s celebration

Some of Drakensberg Boys Choir School’s boys recently performed at Montecasino, for a New Year’s celebration for the Japanese who live and work in South Africa.

The event had 400-500 guests, who thoroughly enjoyed the boys’ performance, the photo opportunity with them afterwards, and they enjoyed buying some merchandise.

The boys sang ‘Hanu wa saku’ (‘Flowers may bloom’), which is a song that was written after the tsunami in 2011, and is very special to Japanese people.

They followed this with ‘Does your mother know’ and ‘Shosholoza’. The school had a very successful tour to Japan in 2017, the start of bridging South Africa and Japan together.
