ML Sultan Secondary School student Yajna Raghubeer (17) from Glencoe received five As in her matric exams.
She got A’s in Life Sciences, Maths, Physics, Geography, and Life Orientation.
She attended extra classes to prepare herself for the exams and used past year matric exam papers to study. “Attending extra classes really helped me and I think working hard from the beginning of the year is the key to accomplishing great results,” said Yajna.
She is currently studying at the University of Witwatersrand towards a Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB). This is a six-year course that Yajna hopes to finish in ample time.
“My advice to the Class of 2018 students who didn’t do so well is that they should not give up on their studies. They can still rewrite their matric exam. Failing matric is not the end of the road, they can still dust themselves off and try again,” she added.
She also sent a heartfelt thank you to ML Sultan High School’s teachers and peers. “I will definitely miss being one of the students there as it was a fantastic place though we had our ups and downs during the five-year rollercoaster.”
