Spirits soar at Lengola High thanks to donations

Generous donors assist at rural school

Things are looking up at Lengola High School, in Dannhauser, thanks to a few kind-hearted individuals.

At the start of February, the school was blessed to receive two new easy-flush toilets courtesy of Envirosan who partnered with ROCLA.

The toilets turned from dream to reality after the Principal of the school showed Amajuba District Mayor, Dr Musa Ngubane, the state of the school, highlighting the hardship and challenges faced by the learners and teachers who had no proper toilets. The Mayor made a few calls to various stakeholders and Envirosan jumped on board, pledging two toilets.

The toilets boast extra safety features, water saving methods and only need to be serviced after 10 years.
The construction of the toilets also provides local communities with job opportunities and skills as all the material needed, can be manufactured and approved on site.

The toilets came as a huge relief for learners and staff who either visited neighbouring schools or went home if they needed to relieve themselves.

The surprises didn’t end there for the school though. Last week, the district mayor was back again together with Kunene Makopo Risk Solutions. They donated school shoes for 100 needy learners. Many of the learners at Lengola High come from disadvantaged families, depending on their grandparents’ pension grants to get by.

A representative for Kunene Makopo Risk Solutions said one of the company’s aims was to give back to communities and offer a helping hand where they could.

The recent donations have really been a boon to scholars and staff and have got spirits soaring at the school.
