Celebratory weekend for Girl Guides at Drakensview Primary School

Girl Guides commemorate Thinking Day with fun and education

Drakensview’s Girl Guide Company went camping last weekend. They stayed at Zamindlela School and participated in a variety of outdoor activities at Greystone.

Thinking Day, which is celebrated globally on February 22 every year was also observed during the camp.

It is a time when Girl Guides and Boys Scouts around the world focus on the meaning of their organisations and its impact globally.

Besides the serious stuff there was plenty of time to play, build, slide, make new friends and have lots and lots of fun.

Unfortunately the much needed rainfall on Friday evening washed out the planned campfire so the marshmallows were not toasted, just eaten!

A camp like this requires organisation in many areas and the Drakensview educators, Ms P Gwamanda, Mrs T Mhlanga and Miss N Mhlongo are to be thanked for their help. The photographs tell a story of a fun-filled weekend.
