One prisoner, who escaped yesterday from a police vehicle, is still on the run.
11 awaiting trial prisoners were being transported from Nongoma to Vryheid when they managed to overpower the police officers transporting them.

Five men escaped with the vehicle after stealing the officer’s firearms and cellphones.
The men are wanted for crimes – including rape, robbery and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
A manhunt was launched and police rearrested four out of the five men.
The other is still at large.
The men will now face additional charges including escaping from lawful custody.
