Elderly farmer survives savage beating in Paulpietersburg farm attack

One of the attackers stuck his finger in the 77-year old victim's left eye. Engelbrecht was cut, beaten, strangled and tied up with belts before his assailants fled with his cash and his vehicle.

ON MARCH 27, the same day that the South African Human Rights Commission controversially okayed “Kill the Boer” as legally acceptable “freedom of speech” in the #EFFHateSpeechFinding, a 77-year old man came face to balaclava-clad face with savage attackers on his Paulpietersburg farm, Tamboekiesbult.

Attempted farm attack caught on security cameras

It is reported that, at approximately 4am, Paulpietersburg farmer, Roland Engelbrecht, was attacked by three unidentified assailants, although the number of attackers is not officially confirmed at this point.

They wore balaclavas and spoke English.

It is believed that the perpetrators of this vicious attack demanded firearms and cash from their elderly victim, who gave them all of his money but was unable to meet with their demand for weapons as he did not own any guns.

Engelbrecht was brutally assaulted during the attack. He endured being savagely beaten, cut, strangled and having his left eye ruthlessly gouged by one of the attackers who torturously stuck his finger in the victim’s eye, before being tied up with belts and having his mouth covered with tape.

The suspects made off with the farmer’s cash and his vehicle, the smouldering burnt out remains of which were later discovered in a nearby plantation.

Local forensics experts carried out a thorough investigation of the crime scene.

Roland Engelbrecht survived the attack but no arrests have been made yet.
