He never thought the day would come when he would be clutching a hard copy in his hands.

To his surprise, after many challenges and setbacks, Umbhoshongo Onamandla meaning ‘Strong Tower’ was recently published.

The poems in the book follow the theme of the title; the writings are a recollection of growing up in Loskop; the hardships he faced in life and how God is a tower that one can run to for safety.

“If we turn to God, no matter what hardships we face, we will succeed because He is our refuge and strong tower,” explained the soft-spoken and humble Mr Ntshalintshali.

The 29-year-old, employed as a part-time general worker at an Estcourt factory, hopes that he can one day fund his dream of writing. The poet strongly believes that one of the reasons he was born is to write.

“I experienced many issues with the publisher which delayed the release but now that the book is out, it is doing better than I expected. I compiled this book of poetry to help motivate, give hope as well as to remind readers that God is our comforter,” he explained.

It is almost hard to believe that Mr Ntshalintshali wrote poetry back in his school days just for the fun of it.

“Recently a local school had read a poem of mine in assembly and for me, that’s a dream come to true to have children inspired by my pieces,” he told with glee.

In the next year or two, one can anticipate a new book release. Orders for a copy of the book can be made by calling 078 731 0823 or 072 962 4752.
