Orange Grove fire holds massive implications for economy

A tragic day for Dundee

Orange Grove Dairy and the adjacent Nampak factory have been destroyed in a fierce blaze. The fire started in the early hours of the morning and the Endumeni Fire Brigade had to be assisted by firemen from Newcastle.

Sue Durham of  Orange Grove said: ” It took us three years building and renovating the factory which has now been destroyed in one moment. We still have no idea what caused the fire”.

No one was injured in the fire and the fleet of trucks used by Orange Grove was quickly moved to safety to the adjacent Rural Horse Riding field.

The fire has massive implications for the local economy with over 40 dairy farmers sending their milk to Orange Grove for processing. Orange Grove is also one of the biggest employers in the area.
